In addition, winners will have their work prominently displayed at the 43rd annual Monmouth Festival of the Arts, which will take place at the MonmouthReformTemple from Saturday, April 13, through Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Last year, the show attracted over 2000 visitors and featured the work of over 200 artists.
Art competition judges include professional artists Patricia Hutchinson, Colleen Lineberry, and Bob Mataranglo. Additionally, art workshops will be presented by local artists and will take place simultaneous to the art competition. These include: “Matting & Framing for the Best Presentation”, by Pen & Ink Artist Dave McGrath and “Calligraphy, The art of beautiful writing,” presented by Mychelle Kendrick, an award-winning artist and calligrapher. Participation in the workshops is open to all 11th grade students, and not limited to those presenting in the competition. MFA workshops are designed to provide high school art students with practical information related to preparation and presentation of their works for submission to college interviews and art shows.
